Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Anumula Revanth Reddy praised the financial discipline of women in the state, saying they are setting a national example. Speaking at the ‘WE HUB – Women Acceleration’ event on Saturday, he highlighted how Self-Help Groups (SHGs) led by women are repaying their loans with interest, unlike some major corporate figures who took massive loans and fled the country.
He pointed out that while some powerful businessmen cheated banks out of ₹16 lakh crore, the women of Telangana have shown honesty and responsibility. “These women are the true face of financial commitment,” he said.
The Chief Minister shared an ambitious plan: the government wants to help one crore women become millionaires. To support this, the state will allocate an additional 1,000 MW of solar power projects to women-led groups. This is in addition to the 1,000 MW already given to them.
Revanth Reddy emphasized that the government is actively encouraging women to become entrepreneurs. SHGs are being treated as a growing business force. Apart from solar energy, women groups have also received petrol pump allocations.
“Our goal is to see women compete with business giants like Adani and Ambani in the green energy sector,” he said.
He also spoke about how women are now involved in managing government schools like Amma Adarsh Schools and are even stitching uniforms for students. The government has set up special stalls at Shilparamam, Hyderabad, to showcase and sell products made by these women.
Revanth Reddy reminded everyone that the Congress party has always valued women’s strength. He recalled Indira Gandhi’s leadership during the India-China and India-Pakistan wars, saying the country’s victories reflect the power of women.
He added that the state is running several programs to empower women in all sectors. He directed officials to launch a special campaign to bring more urban women into SHGs.
As a final gesture of support, the CM mentioned that gifts made by women in SHGs are being presented to foreign delegates visiting Telangana. “My government is fully committed to uplifting women and building a stronger, empowered community,” he concluded.
