Citizens Financial Group, a bank based in the United States, has teamed up with technology company Cognizant to open a new Global Capacity Centre (GCC) in Hyderabad, India. This new centre will be located within Cognizant’s campus in the city.
The centre is designed to be an innovation hub, where new technology solutions will be developed to help reduce banks’ dependence on outside vendors. It aims to create 1,000 new high-skilled jobs by March 2026.
Cognizant, which already employs around 57,000 people in Hyderabad, will support the centre using its advanced AI-based tools like Neuro and Flowsource. These platforms will help provide services in areas such as cloud computing, data management, cybersecurity, and intelligent automation.
Telangana’s IT Minister Sridhar Babu welcomed the partnership, saying it supports the state’s goal of becoming a $1 trillion economy. He also praised the strong cooperation between the public and private sectors in driving Telangana’s progress.
Cognizant executive Nageshwar Cherukupally explained why Hyderabad was chosen for the new centre. He said the city has become a global hub for banking and financial technology, attracting many international companies because of its large pool of skilled workers.
