City excited as Miss World pageant begins today

Hyderabad is all set to shine on the global stage as the 72nd Miss World pageant kicks off this Saturday. The spotlight will be on Telangana’s vibrant culture, with a grand display of its traditional arts, dance, and music.

The event aims to blend beauty with heritage, offering a unique showcase of Telangana’s folk, tribal, and classical art forms. Organizers have planned a rich lineup of performances to welcome international guests and celebrate the state’s identity.

The program begins with the Telangana State anthem, sung after the national anthem. This anthem was written by Dr. Andesri, a respected poet, and composed by Oscar-winning music director MM Keeravani. A 50-member choir, trained by noted singer Komanduri Ramachari, will bring the anthem to life.

Next comes a stunning Perini Lasya dance performance, a classical art form dating back to the Kakatiya dynasty. A powerful group of 250 female dancers, led by Perini Sandeep, will perform to music composed by Phani Narayana. During their ten-minute routine, the dancers will form symbolic shapes like a star, a butterfly, and the Miss World logo, representing themes of beauty, culture, and women’s empowerment.

The cultural celebration continues with energetic folk and tribal performances. The Sri Ramakrishna Kommu Koya troupe from Bhadrachalam will open with their traditional rhythms. This will be followed by Gond art from Adilabad, performed by Katle Sridhar’s group alongside Miss World contestants.

To highlight Telangana’s musical heritage, the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar team will showcase local folk beats. Banjara women, representing the region’s tribal roots, will perform under the direction of Swapna, sharing their colorful traditions.

The ancient Oggudolu dance, which reflects rural Telangana life, will be presented by Chaudharapalli Ravi Kumar’s group along with the Bismillah Khan award winners.

The opening ceremony will end with a breathtaking fusion of all these performances, offering a powerful tribute to Telangana’s rich cultural legacy. The Telangana government has carefully designed this celebration to honor both the spirit of beauty and the depth of tradition, making this Miss World event unforgettable.
