Hyderabad: On Wednesday, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) closed down Maangalya Shopping Mall in Chikkadpally. The mall was operating without the needed Occupancy Certificate (OC).

GHMC took this step after receiving complaints about the building’s unauthorized use. The mall had not secured an OC from GHMC, which is essential for legal operation.

Officials noted that despite receiving notices to explain the situation, the mall did not provide the required documents. T Vinay Kumar and others had permission for a structure with three cellars, a ground floor, and five additional floors intended for commercial use and a multiplex. However, they failed to obtain the necessary OC.

The shopping mall was functioning on the ground and first floors without this certificate. When the occupier did not respond to GHMC’s Show Cause Notice, the corporation sealed these floors on Wednesday.
