Hyderabad: The Congress party will hold an important meeting on Tuesday to discuss how to promote the achievements of the State government. Another key topic will be how to counter the Opposition’s narrative, especially by using social media and direct communication with the public.

With local body elections coming up, the Congress party wants to use the government’s latest actions to win support. The leadership aims to rally party workers and secure a majority in the upcoming elections by building trust among voters across the State.

On Monday, the government launched two major programs – SC categorisation and Bhu Bharati. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is expected to instruct MLAs and MLCs to focus on promoting four major initiatives in their areas. Along with the two new programs, they will also highlight the distribution of fine rice (Sanna Biyyam) and the Indiramma housing scheme.

Internal surveys show that many people are not fully aware of the government’s welfare schemes and development efforts during the last 15 months. To fix this, the Chief Minister wants public representatives to directly connect with the people and explain the government’s achievements. All MLAs and MLCs have been asked to attend the meeting without fail. The Pradesh Congress Committee is also personally calling them to make sure they come. At the meeting, leaders will be given a clear plan on how to talk to voters in their areas.

Earlier, on February 6, Revanth Reddy had already asked MLAs to promote the government’s work on the Caste Census and SC categorisation. To counter the Opposition’s criticism regarding BC (Backward Class) population data, the Chief Minister asked the MLAs to educate people from villages to mandals about these efforts. He also reminded them that 46 percent reservation would be given to BCs in the local elections, and that this message must be spread widely.
