Hyderabad: The gold-plated Vimana Gopuram of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple in Yadagirigutta was unveiled by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Sunday. The event took place with the chanting of Vedic mantras. The Chief Minister, along with his family, participated in the Mahakumbh Samprokshan ceremony, which is considered highly auspicious.

Before unveiling the gold-plated Vimana Gopuram, the Chief Minister performed special pujas. The entire event was led by Vanamamalai Mutt’s 31st Ramanuja Jeeyar Swamy, ensuring the rituals were conducted properly.

The newly gold-plated Vimana Gopuram is now the tallest of its kind, standing at 50.5 feet. In comparison, the gold-plated gopuram at Tirumala, which is Lord Venkateswara’s temple, is 33 feet tall. The decision to gold-plate the Vimana Gopuram was made in October 2021 by former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. He personally donated 1 kg and 16 tolas of gold for the project and encouraged people from different backgrounds to contribute as well.

The gold-plating work began on December 1, 2024, and was completed by February 18. About 50 artisans worked on the gold plating and copper leaf manufacturing. The total cost of the project was around Rs 80 crore, significantly enhancing the temple’s beauty.
