Requests declaration of Bengaluru-Hyderabad stretch as Defence and Aerospace Corridor; sector exports reach Rs.30,742 crore
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the “Telangana Rising 2047 – Global Summit” scheduled at Bharat Future City on December 8 and 9.
During the meeting, the CM requested the PM to declare the Bengaluru-Hyderabad stretch as a Defence and Aerospace Corridor, recognizing the growing strategic importance of the region.
Aerospace Exports Overtake Pharma
The request comes on the back of impressive growth in Telangana’s aerospace and defence sector. Aerospace and defence exports from Telangana doubled last year, reaching Rs.30,742 crore in just nine months – overtaking pharmaceutical exports for the first time.
This milestone marks a significant shift in Telangana’s export profile, with the aerospace and defence sector emerging as the state’s leading export category, surpassing its traditionally dominant pharmaceutical industry.
Strategic Corridor Proposal
The proposed Defence and Aerospace Corridor along the Bengaluru-Hyderabad stretch would:
- Leverage the existing aerospace ecosystem in both cities
- Attract further investments in defence manufacturing
- Create specialized infrastructure for the sector
- Generate high-skilled employment opportunities
- Position the corridor as a national strategic asset
Telangana Rising 2047
The Telangana Rising 2047 – Global Summit at Bharat Future City is expected to be a major investment attraction event, showcasing the state’s growth trajectory and future vision.
The summit aims to position Telangana as a leading destination for global investments across various sectors including aerospace, defence, pharmaceuticals, information technology, and emerging technologies.
With aerospace and defence exports showing exponential growth and the state’s infrastructure developing rapidly, the proposed corridor designation could further accelerate Telangana’s emergence as a major hub for strategic industries.
