Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has expressed serious concern over the deteriorating condition and poor maintenance of the Hyderabad Outer Ring Road (ORR), warning the private contractor responsible for its upkeep that negligence will not be tolerated. During a high-level review meeting with officials from HMDA and HRDCL, the Chief Minister made it clear that public safety remains the top priority and cannot be compromised under any circumstances.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the current standards of ORR maintenance are completely unacceptable. He pointed out that poor upkeep and negligence by the private contractor have been leading to frequent road accidents, putting thousands of daily commuters at serious risk. The lack of proper maintenance has created dangerous conditions on one of Hyderabad’s most critical infrastructure assets, which serves as a vital link for commercial and personal transportation.
One of the major safety concerns raised during the meeting was the indiscriminate parking of vehicles along the ORR. Revanth Reddy emphasized that vehicles parked haphazardly on the road are creating serious safety hazards and contributing significantly to the rising number of accidents. This unauthorized parking has been identified as a major factor compromising the safety of commuters who use the ring road daily.
The Chief Minister issued a stern warning that the contractor will be held fully accountable for any lapses in maintenance and safety protocols. He made it clear that the government will take strict action against those responsible for the current state of affairs. The meeting concluded with explicit directions to ensure immediate improvement in the maintenance and operation of the Outer Ring Road.
HMDA and HRDCL officials have been directed to continuously monitor ORR operations and ensure strict compliance with all safety norms. The Chief Minister instructed these agencies to closely supervise maintenance activities on a regular basis and implement a robust monitoring system to prevent future negligence. Officials have been tasked with conducting frequent inspections and ensuring that the contractor adheres to all contractual obligations regarding road safety and maintenance.
The Telangana government has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a safe, well-maintained, and world-class Outer Ring Road for every commuter. The administration has made it clear that negligence affecting public safety will face zero tolerance, and all necessary measures will be taken to maintain the infrastructure standards expected from such a crucial transportation corridor in Hyderabad.
