Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has expressed concern over the state’s revenue deficit, stating it is a major hurdle in fulfilling promises and meeting the demands of government employees.

Speaking at the release of the Telangana Gazetted Officers Association-2025 Diary at the Secretariat on Friday, the CM highlighted the financial challenges faced by the state. He revealed that the government generates Rs 18,500 crore in revenue every month, which falls short of the Rs 30,000 crore required to run the state effectively.

Out of this revenue, Rs 6,500 crore is spent on salaries and allowances for government employees and related expenditures. An additional Rs 6,500 crore is used to clear debts every month. This leaves Rs 5,500 crore, which is allocated to welfare schemes. However, the government still needs at least Rs 22,500 crore to meet its basic financial requirements.

Currently, the state is earning Rs 4,000 crore less than what is required to meet its minimum needs. The Chief Minister acknowledged the economic challenges and assured that it would take some time to resolve these issues.

He also stated that the government plans to seek input from employees to ensure state revenues are spent transparently. Efforts will be made to increase monthly revenue by Rs 4,000 crore and to ensure that welfare schemes benefit the intended recipients. “Steps will be taken to address these financial concerns and improve the state’s economic situation,” he added.
