Hyderabad is preparing for heavy rain. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has alerted the state administration. The India Meteorological Department predicts moderate to heavy rainfall in districts like Nizamabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Vikarabad, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, and Khammam. While 15 districts have already seen heavy rain, others have had normal amounts. Jagtial district, which had less rain earlier, is now experiencing heavy showers.
On Saturday morning, the Chief Minister checked on the flood situation in these affected districts. He instructed officials to send NDRF and SDRF teams to these areas and work closely with district Collectors for relief efforts.
Families in low-lying regions are being moved to relief camps due to the risk of overflowing water bodies. The Irrigation Department is closely watching water levels in reservoirs and canals. They must keep Collectors informed about any release of floodwater.
To prevent flood damage, sandbags will be prepared near overflowing reservoirs and ponds. Police and Revenue officials will block roads and bridges where water levels are too high to ensure safety.
To tackle diseases caused by water and insects, the Chief Minister has ordered sanitation efforts in areas with high mosquito populations. Municipal, Urban, and Village administration officials are tasked with this.
In Greater Hyderabad, CM Reddy has directed the GHMC, HYDRAA, SDRF, and Fire services to assist residents quickly. The Health Department must ensure enough medicines are available and set up medical camps in necessary areas to prevent any loss of life or property.
Finally, CM Revanth Reddy urged all departments, including Revenue, Electricity, Panchayat Raj, R&B, Medical and Health, Municipal Administration, Police, Fire services, and SDRF, to work together during the heavy rains.
