Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has directed officials to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the upcoming summer season. He stressed the importance of making all necessary arrangements to meet the increased energy demands during this period.

The Chief Minister also instructed the state Energy Department to conduct a study on installing underground power cables within the Greater Hyderabad City limits. He asked for a detailed report on this initiative, which aims to improve the city’s power infrastructure.

On Saturday, the CM unveiled the “Telangana Clean and Green Energy Policy-2025” and reviewed the performance of the Energy Department. During the review, he emphasized the need for a fully underground cable system within the Hyderabad Outer Ring Road (ORR). This system is expected to minimize power losses, prevent theft, and reduce outages caused by natural disasters.

Officials informed the CM that the state’s peak power demand reached 15,623 MW in March last year and is projected to increase to 16,877 MW this year. To handle this surge, the CM ordered a comprehensive plan for power generation and supply to meet the needs of agriculture and domestic consumers during March’s peak demand period.

With Greater Hyderabad City experiencing rapid growth, the Chief Minister urged officials to align power supply with the city’s expanding requirements. He also recommended implementing an alternative power supply system through nearby feeders to address any technical issues that may arise.

The CM further instructed officials to expedite the installation of solar power plants on government buildings, schools, and offices. He suggested inviting companies interested in setting up solar projects to participate in this initiative.

Additionally, Revanth Reddy directed authorities to relocate the power substation near the Goshamahal Stadium. This relocation will facilitate the construction of the new Osmania Hospital on the stadium premises and prevent potential disruptions.
