In Nalgonda, District Collector and District Election Officer Dasari Harichandana explained the rules for voters during the Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda Legislative Council graduate by-election. Voters must use the violet sketch pen provided by the Election Commission and mark their choice on the ballot paper facing the candidate they are voting for.
The voter should indicate their preference by marking 1, 2, 3, or 4 in numerical order against the candidate they choose. Only one digit should be marked in the space next to the candidate’s name, regardless of how many candidates are running. Voters can use Indian numerals 1, 2, 3, or Roman numerals to indicate their preferences while voting.
If a voter wishes to vote for NOTA (None of the Above), they can mark their preferences on the opposite side of the NOTA option. It is important not to give two preferences to the same candidate, sign or initial the ballot paper, or write names or letters. Voters should only use numbers like 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 to indicate their preferences, not words like one, two, three.
Additionally, voters should not put tick marks or entry marks on the ballot paper and should only write numbers in the space provided for each candidate. The collector emphasized the importance of following these rules to ensure that votes are cast properly and accurately in the MLC elections.
