Jogulamba Gadwal District residents received a warning from Collector B.M. Santosh on Thursday. People living in low-lying and riverbed areas should stay alert due to the rising water levels in the Priyadarshini Jurala Project (PJP) canal.

Heavy rains upstream are causing more water release from dams in Dharur Mandal's catchment areas. This increase may raise the current inflow of 40,000 cusecs to 100,000 cusecs by tomorrow.

The PJP dam’s spillway gates are likely to open this evening as a precaution. The Collector has instructed departments to act quickly to ensure safety.

Residents in flood-prone areas, especially near riverbeds and low-lying parts, should be very cautious. People are advised not to enter or travel in these risky areas, especially downstream of the dam.

Authorities are keeping a close watch and will update the public as needed. The district administration encourages cooperation with safety teams and adherence to local authority instructions.

This alert aims to prevent harm and property damage as water levels rise due to upstream releases. Emergency teams are ready in vulnerable areas.
