Gadwal farmers have received assurances from District Civil Supplies Manager Vimala that their paddy crops, affected by early monsoon rains, will be quickly transported to rice mills to prevent losses.

On Thursday, Vimala unexpectedly visited paddy procurement centers in Lattipuram village. She spoke to farmers about the challenges posed by early monsoon rains, which have made it hard for them to dry their paddy. Despite these difficulties, Vimala affirmed that the procurement process is efficient and aims to safeguard farmers’ interests.

To speed up the paddy movement, more vehicles are being used. Already-weighed paddy is sent directly to rice mills to prevent spoilage from rain.

Vimala emphasized the digitalization of the process, noting that after purchase, paddy details are logged online. Farmers receive payments in their bank accounts within 48 hours.
