The government of Telangana has introduced a new programme for students who were not able to get admission in B Tech computer science courses. The new programme is called BSc (Hons) Computer Science and is being offered in degree colleges from the upcoming academic year. Students will be awarded a BSc (Hons) in Computer Science certificate after completing the four-year programme. However, they can also exit the programme after the third year and receive a basic BSc in Computer Science certificate. The fee for this programme is less than that of the regular B Tech CSC programme.

The new course will be offered by 11 government degree colleges and 11 select private colleges in the State. Each government college will have 60 seats, and admissions will be given via Degree Online Services Telangana (DOST). Currently, more than 70% of students are opting for BSc Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science combination in government colleges. Now they will have the option to pursue a pure computer science degree course.
