Hyderabad:
The Congress has criticized the BRS party for claiming that the current government has failed to secure enough water for projects on the Godavari River. They argue that most projects under the lower riparian of Kaleshwaram are getting sufficient water from the river.
Peddapalli MLA Vijaya Ramana Rao spoke to the media at the Assembly premises. He mentioned that due to heavy rains in Maharashtra, all projects in the lower riparian of Kaleshwaram will soon receive maximum water. He highlighted that Sriramsagar has already received 40 TMC of water, and an additional 35 TMC is expected to fill the lower riparian projects. He emphasized that the State government is following the advice of engineers.
Vijaya Ramana Rao recalled that during the BRS rule, 40 TMC of water was released into the Bay of Bengal from the 90 TMC lifted at Kaleshwaram. He criticized former minister Gangula Kamalakar for questioning the ruling Congress about their efforts to secure water from Godavari and the utilization of Kaleshwaram.
The MLA also pointed out the recommendations of the National Dam Safety Authority. He reminded everyone that Kaleshwaram is currently not suitable due to damage at three different locations in the project.
