Hyderabad: The Congress party has strongly criticized K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), accusing him of harming Telangana’s growth during his ten years as Chief Minister.

During a public event at the Nalgonda Collectorate, Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy said the former CM left Telangana in a financial mess. Instead of helping the new government fix the damage, KCR is now targeting those working to rebuild the state, he claimed.

Reddy pointed out that the BRS government spent a massive ₹1.81 lakh crore on irrigation projects. Yet, there was little to no increase in farming benefits or ayacut coverage. He also accused KCR of letting down Telangana’s farmers by agreeing to an unfair deal in the Krishna River water sharing.

Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy also took aim at the former government. He alleged that top BRS leaders grabbed valuable land using the controversial Dharani portal, worth thousands of crores. He also expressed concern over illegal phone tapping of key figures during BRS rule.

Venkat Reddy questioned KCR’s recent attacks on the Congress, reminding him that it was the Congress party that played a key role in the creation of Telangana. “Calling Congress the villain is ironic,” he said.

PCC President B Mahesh Kumar Goud didn’t hold back either. He called KCR the “first and last villain” of Telangana. Goud challenged KCR to a public debate comparing the BRS and Congress governments. He also accused the Kalvakuntla family of building enormous wealth through political connections, starting with what he called a “fake passport racket.”

He further claimed that KCR’s latest speech proves that BRS and BJP are working together behind the scenes.

Mohammed Ali Shabbir, Advisor to the Telangana Government, dismissed the recent BRS Silver Jubilee event in Warangal as a failure. He compared it to a poorly made movie with a bad script and a worse actor. Shabbir reminded the public that in 2016, KCR had called Sonia Gandhi the “Telangana Talli” for her role in creating the state. “What happened now? Political memory loss?” he asked.

MLC Vijayashanti also slammed KCR. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), she criticized him for accusing the police of siding with Congress. She reminded people how, under BRS, law enforcement was used for illegal phone tapping.

The Congress leaders made it clear—they believe KCR’s era caused serious harm to Telangana, and they’re determined to expose it.
