The Congress party was unsure about choosing Khairatabad MLA D Nagendar as their candidate for the Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency in the upcoming general elections. Despite the party high command’s decision to select Nagendar, the Telangana Congress leaders were not pleased with his actions.

Nagendar was hesitant to resign from his MLA position before filing his nomination, which caused concerns among party leaders. Having recently joined the Congress, Nagendar was also facing legal challenges in the High Court due to a petition filed against him seeking disqualification for changing parties and running for Lok Sabha.

There was a possibility that Nagendar’s nomination could be rejected by the Election Commission as the petition against him was still pending in court. TPCC President and Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy urged Nagendar to step down from his MLA post before filing his nomination to prevent any legal issues surrounding his candidacy. Former GHMC Mayor B Rammohan was also being considered for the party ticket in Secunderabad, but a final decision would only be made after Revanth’s approval.
