Nagarkurnool, Telangana – Agricultural officers carried out a surprise check on cotton seed stocks in Bijnapally Mandal to ensure farmers get quality seeds for the sowing season.
Neethi, the Mandal Agriculture Officer, led the inspection. Her team collected Bt cotton seed samples from several local sellers, including Young Farmers Rural Development Society, Sri Sai Traders, and Sri Gowthami Traders.
All collected seed samples are now on their way to the Seed Testing Laboratory in Rajendranagar, Hyderabad. Experts there will test the seeds to confirm their quality and authenticity.
Neethi made it clear that the government will take strict legal action against anyone caught selling fake or low-quality seeds. She said regular checks like these help protect farmers from being cheated.
“The goal is to ensure farmers get genuine, high-quality seeds they can trust,” she said. “If the lab finds any issues, we won’t hesitate to act against the sellers.”
Officials urge farmers to buy seeds from reliable sources and report any suspicious seed packets to local agricultural offices.
