Hyderabad: Doctors are continuing their strike because their demands have not yet been met. This decision was made by the Action Committee for the Central Protection Act.

The strike affects many areas of the hospital. Doctors will stop all academic activities, outpatient department services, ward services, and elective surgeries. However, they will still provide essential emergency services, including in ICUs, emergency procedures, and emergency surgeries.

On August 16, the Action Committee had a detailed meeting with officials from the Ministry of Health. They expressed their concerns about a recent tragic incident and asked for action to protect healthcare professionals across the country.

The doctors were informed about a notice issued by the Ministry of Health on August 17. The notice mentioned that a committee would be formed to suggest ways to ensure the safety of healthcare professionals. While the doctors appreciated this effort, they believe it is not enough. They pointed out that previous committees have not led to significant changes or new laws. They are calling for immediate action, such as an ordinance, to protect healthcare workers, especially given the increasing violence against them.

The doctors are demanding several things: a fair and transparent investigation, an immediate ordinance within 48 hours to address their safety concerns, legislation in Parliament, continued enforcement of the ordinance, the deployment of paramilitary forces for security, and financial compensation for the families of doctors who have died.
