Hindus Protest Against Violence in Bangladesh

Recently, there has been a significant outcry in India due to the violence against Hindus in Bangladesh. Various Hindu organizations, who see themselves as protectors of the Hindu community, have voiced their concerns over the mass violence. Unfortunately, despite Hindus making up more than 75% of the population, including other religious groups like Jains, Sikhs, and Buddhists, the number of protestors remains disappointingly low.

In recent times, attacks against Hindus have also increased in India, as well as in countries like the US, UK, and across Europe. Hindus are often seen as easy targets, unable to defend themselves effectively.

It is the duty of the government to protect the lives and property of all its citizens, regardless of their religion or background. However, when the government fails to fulfill this duty, especially when it seems to ignore attacks on the majority population, extremist elements become bolder. The current situation is a result of this biased attitude and the policy of appeasement towards Muslims, not only by past Congress-led governments but also by the present BJP-led government.

Many people feel betrayed by the BJP, as they had hoped that the party would declare India a Hindu Rashtra, ensuring the protection of their religious beliefs. These voters were tired of the non-BJP governments that openly showed favoritism towards Muslims and other minorities, excluding Parsis, who have never sought any special treatment despite being a true minority.

This raises an important question: If Congress and other opposition parties can openly support Muslims, why doesn’t the BJP do the same for Hindus? The answer lies in the ‘hypocrisy’ of the BJP and its associated organizations like the RSS, VHP, and Bajrang Dal. Interestingly, the BJP, despite claiming to be the world’s largest political party, relies heavily on these so-called apolitical organizations for all its activities.

Many Hindus mistakenly believe that the BJP is different from the RSS, VHP, or Bajrang Dal, and that these organizations protect Hindu interests. However, this belief is unfounded. The RSS claims that India is already a Hindu nation because the ancestors of Muslims and Christians were Hindus, but it fails to address why there is still violence against Hindus.

It is time for Hindus to recognize the double standards of these so-called protectors. While the leaders enjoy full security, the ordinary Hindu public is left defenseless against armed extremists. The government’s failure to protect the majority population is a violation of the Constitution. The Supreme Court should consider the seriousness of the situation and take action against the government if necessary.

Supreme Court on Justice vs. Technicalities

In a recent ruling, a Supreme Court bench, consisting of Justices Sudhanshu Dhulia and Ahsanuddin Amanullah, emphasized that procedural technicalities should not stand in the way of substantive justice. The court addressed a case where a 17-year delay in filing a written statement was due to a mistake on a high court website, which incorrectly marked the case as closed in 2000. The court reiterated that procedural laws are meant to achieve justice, not to deny it at the outset.
