The seemingly unending mystery over the identity of the new Maharashtra chief minister is likely to unravel on Wednesday as the BJP is slated to elect its legislative party leader in a party legislature meeting today. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and former Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani have been named the central observers for the party meeting.

Meanwhile, preparations are underway at Azad Maidan in south Mumbai for the oath-taking ceremony of the still unnamed new chief minister that is likely to be held on December 5.

According to reports, Devendra Fadnavis is likely to assume the state’s top post and become the chief minister of Maharashtra for the third time. BJP’s top leadership, including PM Narendra Modi, is going to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Fadnavis.
