Overflowing Godavari waters in Yadagirigutta mandal have caused distress for farmers. The government released water from the Jangampally OT 2 canal as part of the Kaleshwaram project, but it led to unexpected flooding in the fields.

The water was supposed to fill the Gandhi pond at the Yadadri Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple. However, a surge in the canal caused a stoppage at the pipes, and the water overflowed into the fields. This resulted in the complete submergence of recently sowed paddy crops.

Farmers like Pulepaka Mallaiah, Bikshapati, and Pulepaka Ramulu faced significant losses due to their submerged lands. They have urgently requested government compensation to help them recover from this calamity.

Irrigation officials Venugopal and Balakishan explained that the flood surge happened because of garbage and debris blocking the canal. This obstruction caused the water to divert towards the fields.
