Hyderabad: On Sunday, Balapur became a lively center of celebration as thousands gathered for the unveiling of a 21-foot Ganesh idol. This event marked the start of the 2025 festival season. The idol, placed in a decorated mandapam, was inspired by the majestic Swarnagiri Venkateswara Swamy Temple. Devotees from various places lined up to receive blessings.
The scene was vibrant. Streets filled with people, families with offerings, and eager children trying to glimpse the impressive idol. Volunteers managed the growing crowd, while police ensured smooth movement. Colorful decorations, traditional music, and the scent of flowers and incense enhanced the festive mood.
A highlight was the 21 kg “Prasadam Ladoo”, a cherished Balapur tradition, symbolizing wealth and divine favor. This ladoo will be auctioned at the festival’s end. The mandapam, adorned with intricate floral and sculptural designs, mirrored the spiritual atmosphere of the temple it was modeled after. Inside, visitors expressed their reverence, some capturing the moment on their phones, others praying silently.
Photos from the event showed endless lines of people waiting for darshan, with the idol beautifully lit against the temple-like backdrop. Crowds extended to nearby streets, emphasizing Balapur‘s status as a prime destination for Ganesh celebrations in Hyderabad.
