Hyderabad: Solar Power Plants to Be Set Up by Women of Self-Help Groups

Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari has instructed officials to take immediate action to establish solar power plants on approximately 231 acres of land. This initiative will be carried out in the first phase through the involvement of women belonging to self-help groups (SHGs) in Telangana.

A review meeting was held at the Secretariat on Monday to assess the progress of various schemes under the Mahila Shakti programme. During the meeting, Santhi Kumari emphasized that the solar power plants should be set up within the next six months across five districts. She suggested utilizing vacant endowment lands on a lease basis for this purpose, with the management of the solar plants being handled by SHG women.
