Cyberabad Commissioner of Police Dr M. Ramesh, along with Cyberabad Municipal Commissioner Gummalla Srijana, conducted a joint inspection of several flood-prone areas in Hyderabad as the city braces for heavy rainfall. The inspection covered critical locations including Malkan Cheruvu, City Wines, FDDI Box Drain, COD Junction, Bata Junction, and the ongoing COD pipeline works. The officials identified key bottlenecks that have historically caused severe waterlogging during monsoon season and directed immediate corrective action.
During the inspection, Dr Ramesh issued specific directives to eliminate waterlogging issues across the identified hotspots. Authorities have been ordered to strengthen the storm water drainage network throughout the area. At FDDI, catch pits will be constructed to improve water flow, while MS grills are to be installed at COD Junction to prevent debris accumulation. Near the popular Bawarchi restaurant, existing RCC covers will be replaced with MS grills to enhance drainage capacity and prevent flooding during heavy downpours.
A major infrastructure project has been sanctioned from MK Eternal Mall to Bata Nala, where a box culvert will be constructed to facilitate better water discharge. Officials have also been tasked with examining the feasibility of shifting overhead power cables to Metro pillars, a move that could reduce infrastructure vulnerability during monsoon conditions. The ongoing COD pipeline works have been directed to be expedited while ensuring minimal disruption to traffic flow in the busy commercial corridor.
The Cyberabad Police, along with officials from the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation, HYDRAA, and other civic departments, have been given strict timelines to complete the assigned works. Authorities have been mandated to issue advance traffic diversion advisories to inform commuters about temporary route changes. Strict safety measures have been ordered at all construction sites to prevent accidents and ensure public safety during the execution of emergency flood prevention works.
All civic agencies involved have been directed to coordinate closely and complete the flood mitigation measures within the stipulated timelines. The comprehensive action plan aims to ensure smoother traffic flow and significantly reduce monsoon-related inconvenience for residents and commuters across the Cyberabad region. The joint inspection and subsequent directives reflect a proactive approach by authorities to address recurring flooding issues before the onset of heavy rains.
