Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Traffic Police have ramped up efforts against drunk driving, capturing 454 people in a focused operation over the weekend.
This extensive operation within the Cyberabad Commissionerate area led to the arrest of 372 two-wheeler riders, 22 three-wheeler drivers, 57 four-wheeler drivers, and 3 drivers of heavy vehicles.
Police records show 268 offenders had Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) levels from 35 mg/100 ml to 200 mg/100 ml. Another 169 had BAC levels between 101 mg/100 ml and 300 mg/100 ml, while 17 individuals registered dangerously high levels from 301 mg/100 ml to 500 mg/100 ml. All offenders will face court proceedings.
The largest group of offenders, 169, were aged 21-30, with 168 individuals in the 31-40 age range. There were 80 offenders aged 41-50, and nine were between 18 and 20 years old.
The Cyberabad Police emphasized that driving under the influence is a grave offense. They warned that those driving while intoxicated and causing fatal accidents will be charged under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (Culpable Homicide Not Amounting to Murder). This carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a fine. The Cyberabad Traffic Police urge all drivers to act responsibly and maintain road safety for all.
