Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Special Operations Team (SOT) from Balanagar arrested three men who were transporting ganja (marijuana) from Odisha to Haryana through Telangana. The police seized 273 kg of dry ganja, which is worth about Rs 1.1 crore.
The people arrested are Pardeep Kumar (also known as Ajay Sharma), 27, from Fazilka district in Punjab; Sunny, 25; and Manish Kumar, 29, both from Bhiwani district in Haryana. Two others involved in the case are still missing — Sahil, a financier from Sonipat district in Haryana, and Subhash Biswas (also known as Samuel), who is the main ganja supplier from Odisha.
According to police, Pardeep, who lives in Bowenpally, usually uses his pick-up vehicle to help with packing and moving household items. Sunny and Manish, who know Pardeep, work with him as a driver and laborer. Around 15 days ago, Pardeep and Sahil discussed transporting a ganja consignment from Odisha to Haryana. They agreed to invest money into this illegal activity.
On March 31, Pardeep and Sahil went to Odisha, where Sahil introduced Subhash to Pardeep. They confirmed the drug deal by paying Subhash Rs 1.3 lakh for the ganja. The next day, Sunny and Manish loaded some household goods into the pick-up truck and drove to Odisha, where they met Pardeep and Sahil.
On April 5, the group loaded the ganja into the vehicle and hid it under the household items to avoid getting caught during police checks. While driving back through Telangana, they reached near the Shamirpet ORR junction, where the police stopped and arrested them.
The police are asking the public to report any information about ganja suppliers. People can call Dial 100 or send a message to Cyberabad Police’s WhatsApp number 9490617444. The identity of anyone who provides information will be kept confidential.
