Nalgonda: Deputy Chief Minister M Bhatti Vikramarka is set to visit the SLBC (Srisailam Left Bank Canal) tunnel on Friday. He will be accompanied by other ministers to check the progress of the project. Bhatti and the team will look at the work done so far and give instructions to officials on how to complete the project on time.
Bhatti has previously criticized the BRS government for not finishing the SLBC project, which has been delayed for 10 years. He pointed out that 80% of the work was completed during the Congress government, but only 10 kilometers of excavation remain. Bhatti blamed the BRS leadership for not providing enough funds to finish the project. This project is important because it will provide irrigation water to 4 lakh acres in Nagarkurnool and Nalgonda districts and drinking water to 512 villages.
On June 7, 2023, during his People’s March padayatra, Bhatti promised to complete the project if the Congress came to power. After becoming Deputy Chief Minister, Bhatti, along with Minister for Irrigation Uttam Kumar Reddy and District Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, reviewed the SLBC project at the state secretariat. They created a plan to finish the project within two years and made sure there were budget allocations for it.
The review on Friday will look at the necessary funds, machinery, and the timeline for completing the work. Bhatti will also check on other important irrigation projects, including the Nakkalagandi, Dindi, Udayasamudram, and Dharmareddy canal works.
