    Hyderabad: Ravi Gupta, a senior IPS officer from the 1990 batch, has been appointed as the DGP (full additional charge). He has played a significant role in strengthening the police department through advanced IT applications.

    Gupta, who is also the Director General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) since December 2022, has been actively involved in the efficient functioning of the state police since taking charge in early December this year.

    During his tenure as Additional DG of Police Communication and technology, Gupta implemented revolutionary changes in IT applications. These changes ensured data security, expedited case studies, and introduced advanced communication tools to aid in solving general and cyber crimes.

    Gupta’s contribution to using advanced technology in policing has earned him numerous awards from the State government for initiatives such as CCTNs and Mee Seva.

    Born on October 25, 1965, in a lower-middle-class family in Kerala, Ravi Gupta completed his masters in Economics before pursuing a career in civil services in New Delhi in the late 1980s. He cleared the UPSC examination in 1990 and joined the Telangana Cadre as an IPS officer. Throughout his career, he has served in various positions under the Government of Telangana, showcasing his dedication and responsibility.

    Ravi Gupta has been given full additional charge as Director General of Police, Telangana Police Department (HoPF) until further notice. He has held multiple posts at the district and state levels and has made significant contributions to solving complex crimes and maintaining law and order.
