Gadwal Collector Urges Quick Completion of Pending Development Works
Jogulamba Gadwal District Collector B.M. Santosh has directed officials to quickly complete all pending development projects within the municipality while ensuring high-quality standards. On Wednesday, he toured various development sites in Aija Municipality to monitor the progress of these initiatives.
During his inspection, the Collector stressed the timely completion of pending works. He reviewed the construction of a bridge on Pedda Vagu and instructed Roads & Buildings (R&B) officials to install a divider on the road connecting Ambedkar Chowk to the Integrated Veg and Non-Veg Market. For this, he suggested temporarily closing the road to traffic. The Collector urged officials to expedite the bridge’s completion to minimize inconvenience to the public.
The progress of the Integrated Veg and Non-Veg Market was also a key focus. The Collector directed municipal officials to speed up pending works and ensure the market’s access road is finished as soon as possible.
While inspecting road repairs between Gadwal and Aija, the Collector assessed the quality of the construction. He instructed R&B officials to prioritize the completion of pending road projects, including CC roads in both municipalities. Contractors were asked to accelerate their work, with special attention to completing entry roads into Gadwal and Aija municipalities.
Local residents shared their concerns about delays in fully opening the market, which has been stalled for over two years. Despite significant investments and multiple tenders, the project is hindered by encroachments in the market area. Locals alleged that certain individuals had illegally occupied government land near the market, built sheds, and were renting them out with the alleged involvement of corrupt officials.
Traders in the area highlighted another issue—the narrow entrance gate to the market, which prevents vehicles from entering. They suggested that removing four sheds on either side of the gate could widen the entrance and make it accessible for vehicles.
Several officials accompanied the Collector during his inspection, including Municipal Chairman Chinna Devanna, Municipal Commissioner Rajayya, R&B EE Pragathi, Kiran Kumar, and other engineering officials. Their collective efforts aim to address these pressing issues and ensure the swift completion of development projects in the region.
