A special meeting was held in NagarKurnool on Friday, led by District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) Dr. Swarajya Lakshmi. The meeting took place at the Collectorate conference hall and was attended by doctors from private hospitals across the district.
During the meeting, Dr. Swarajya Lakshmi discussed the increasing number of seasonal diseases, such as Dengue, Chikungunya, Typhoid, and viral fevers. She stressed the importance of cooperation between government and private hospitals to ensure the public receives proper healthcare services.
Dr. Swarajya Lakshmi clarified that not every fever should be assumed to be Dengue. She advised private hospitals to refer patients suspected of having Dengue to the nearest primary health center. There, blood samples can be sent to T-Diagnostics for an ELISA test to confirm the disease.
She emphasized that only after Dengue is confirmed through the test should the information be shared with the public. Dr. Swarajya Lakshmi also instructed that every private clinic, hospital, and lab should prominently display a price list. Additionally, the names and registration numbers of the doctors providing services must be shown at the reception counter.
Dr. Swarajya Lakshmi provided detailed information about the laws related to abortion and the PC & PNDT Act (Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act). The meeting was attended by several key figures, including IMA President Dr. Chennayya, program officers Dr. Ravi Kumar, Dr. Radhika, Dr. Lakshman, Dr. Rajasekhar, Deputy DMHOs Dr. Venkata Das, Dr. Tara Singh, Dr. Bhima Naik, district mass media officer Srinivas Rao, as well as doctors from private hospitals, management staff, and lab technicians.
