Hyderabad: The Telangana Medical Council (TGMC) has issued a warning to all medical practitioners, including those in allopathy, dental, and AYUSH, about using unapproved certifications. These include programs like the ones from the Council of Cosmetology, Trichology and Regenerative and Aesthetic Sciences of India, the Institute of Laser and Aesthetic Medicine (ILAMED), and the Asian Institute of Advanced Dentistry (AIAD). TGMC states these programs lack official recognition.
Dr. K Mahesh Kumar, the Council Chairman, advised against enrolling in these blacklisted courses. He emphasized that practitioners displaying or using such certifications in Telangana for practicing modern medicine could face legal consequences. This is in accordance with the Indian Medical Council (Professional Conduct Etiquette and Ethics) Regulations, 2002, the Telangana Medical Practitioners Registration Act 1968, and the National Medical Commission Act 2019.
Under Section 35 of the NMC Act 2019, medical qualifications must be recognized by either the Under-Graduate or Post-Graduate Medical Education Board in India. Section 37 further explains that only qualifications listed in the schedule are recognized under this Act.
Dr. Mahesh Kumar reiterated that a medical qualification is only valid if recognized by the relevant medical education boards like the NMC. This includes all levels of medical education from undergraduate to super-specialty. The Central government also holds the power to modify the list of recognized qualifications in the Schedule.
