Earthquake Rattles Karimnagar and Nearby Towns, Causes Panic Among Locals
An earthquake shook parts of Karimnagar, Sircilla, Peddapalli, Sultanabad, Rudrangi, and Vemulawada on Monday evening, sending people rushing out of their homes in fear. The tremors were felt twice, and many residents described a loud rumble followed by a sudden shaking of buildings.
In Karimnagar, the earthquake measured 3.9 on the Richter scale, according to official data. The first tremor struck around 6:45 PM, lasting only a few seconds but strong enough to shake homes and rattle nerves.
Many locals initially thought the noise came from a nearby quarry blast. However, they quickly realized it was different. “It wasn’t like the usual blasts. This time, the ground and the building actually moved,” said a resident.
Chinthoju Bhaskar from Sircilla shared his experience. “I was sitting in a shop when my chair suddenly shifted. That’s when I knew it was an earthquake,” he said.
Another woman from the same area said she was cleaning her home when the tremors knocked her off balance, causing her to fall.
In Vemulawada, people waiting at the famous temple for darshan were also alarmed. Some devotees stepped away from the premises, concerned about their safety.
Fortunately, there were no reports of damage or injuries, but the sudden tremors left many in shock. Residents across the affected towns gathered outside and shared their experiences, still shaken by the unexpected event.
Authorities have not issued any warnings but are monitoring the situation. Meanwhile, locals remain alert, hoping there won’t be any aftershocks.
