The Election Commission of India has announced the schedule for the upcoming MLA quota Member of Legislative Council (MLC) elections in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. These elections are being held because the tenure of five MLCs in each state will end on March 29, 2025. The election process will begin in early March.

Key Election Dates

The election process will follow this timeline:

March 3, 2025 (Monday): Notification will be issued, marking the official start of the election process.
March 10, 2025 (Monday): Last date for candidates to submit their nominations.
March 11, 2025 (Tuesday): Scrutiny of nominations will take place.
March 13, 2025 (Thursday): Deadline for candidates to withdraw their nominations.
March 20, 2025 (Thursday): Polling will be held between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM, followed by vote counting at 5:00 PM.
March 24, 2025 (Monday): The election process must be completed by this date.

Election Process

These elections are conducted under the MLA quota, meaning that state legislators will vote to elect the new MLCs. The notification for the elections will be issued on March 3, and candidates must submit their nominations by March 10. The nominations will be reviewed on March 11, and any candidate wishing to withdraw must do so by March 13.

Voting will take place on March 20, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The counting of votes will begin at 5:00 PM on the same day. The entire election process is scheduled to be completed by March 24.
