The GHMC is conducting emergency evacuation mock drills in six zones to raise awareness about fire safety. These drills are being held at places like schools, hospitals, shopping malls, office buildings, hotels, and banquet halls.
During the drills, the Station Fire Officer (SFO) demonstrates how to escape from fire accidents, evacuate buildings, operate firefighting equipment, provide first aid, and create awareness about what to do in emergencies. The drills will be conducted weekly in all six zones by SFO and DRF teams.
This week, the DRF teams conducted mock evacuations at five places including D Mart Supermarket, Chennai Shopping Mall, Narayani Shopping Mall, Chennai Silks, and Sri Laxmi White House Textile Market. In total, they conducted five evacuation drills and 58 awareness programs in public places, shopping malls, schools, colleges, and hostels.
