Explosion during Rajouri military operation results in the death of 5 soldiers.

Five soldiers were killed and one was injured in an explosion caused by terrorists in the Kandi area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district. The army was conducting an operation to eliminate the terrorists from the area, which is heavily forested. Two soldiers from the Special Forces died in the morning and four other soldiers, including a major, were injured. Later in the day, three more soldiers died in a hospital in Udhampur.

The army is still conducting the operation and mobile internet facilities in the Rajouri area have been suspended. The Northern Command of the Army said that they were conducting intelligence-based operations to flush out terrorists who had ambushed an army truck in the Tota Gali area of Bhata Dhurian in Jammu region last month. They received specific information about terrorists in the Kandi Forest and launched a joint operation on May 3.

At around 7:30 am on May 7, the army team encountered a group of terrorists hiding in a cave. The terrorists triggered an explosive device in retaliation, causing casualties among the soldiers. The area is difficult to navigate due to the thick vegetation and steep cliffs. Additional teams have been directed to the site of the encounter and the injured soldiers have been evacuated to the Command Hospital at Udhampur. The army believes that there may be casualties among the terrorist group and the operation is still ongoing.
