Hyderabad: On Wednesday, Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy announced that the Congress government approved Indiramma houses for eligible families in Vasalamarri village of Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district. This village was previously adopted by former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
The Minister plans to give sanction letters to 205 families on Thursday. He stated that the current government, led by CM Revanth Reddy, supports those who felt let down by the previous BRS regime. Ponguleti recalled that on November 1, 2020, then CM KCR adopted the village. On June 22, 2021, KCR held a meeting with the villagers, promising to transform it into a ‘Golden Vasalamarri’ with double-bedroom houses for all. However, no houses were built during his tenure. Moreover, many homes were demolished to widen the road to KCR’s farmhouse, leaving families homeless. These families have been living in temporary shelters since then, with the promise of a model village unfulfilled.
Minister Ponguleti criticized former CM KCR, saying, “Vasalamarri highlights how people’s hopes were manipulated for political gain. KCR claimed he would set an example for the nation, but he didn’t keep his promises to the village he adopted.”
Under CM Revanth Reddy’s orders, a new survey identified 205 families eligible for Indiramma housing. “These houses have now been approved. I will personally deliver the approval letters to the beneficiaries,” he said.
The Minister emphasized the Congress government’s dedication to welfare and inclusive development. The Indiramma housing initiative has been revived to ensure every deserving family has a home.
