The Godavari River maintained a level of 50 feet near Bhadrachalam on Tuesday evening. District Collector Jitesh V Patil responded by issuing a second-level flood alert.

Officials noted that rain in upstream areas, especially around Peruru, is decreasing. This suggests the water level might drop on Wednesday. However, the lower section of Kalyanakatta is currently underwater.

Authorities have restricted entry to the flooded zone. Pilgrims now perform hair tonsuring rituals at an alternative location within the temple’s 100-room guesthouse complex.

Flooding has also halted transportation for the second day. Traffic between Bhadrachalam and Charla is blocked near the Turubaka diversion road.

Further, the Bhadrachalam-Kunavaram road faces disruptions at Nellipaka, Polipaka, and Murumuru because of waterlogging.
