Former Deputy Chief Minister Alla Nani has been booked by the Eluru Three Town Police in a cheating case. The case also involves several other individuals. The case is connected to an incident that took place during a past election campaign when an elevator malfunctioned, leading to injuries.

The incident occurred at Lakshmi Krishna Residency Apartments in Shantinagar during the general elections. YSRCP leader Dirishala Varaprasad and others were campaigning on the fourth floor of the building. After finishing their campaign, they all entered an elevator, which suddenly malfunctioned and dropped down. Due to the fall, Nagamani, one of the campaigners, was seriously injured. She was immediately taken to a nearby private hospital for treatment.

The campaign involved volunteers and Secretariat staff, which could have caused trouble with the Election Commission of India if it became public knowledge. To avoid this, the incident was kept quiet. At the time, Alla Nani, who was a minister, promised to take care of Nagamani’s medical bills, provide accident insurance, and offer financial support to her family. Believing in these promises, Nagamani did not raise the issue publicly.

However, as time passed, none of the promised help or compensation was provided. When Nagamani continued to ask for the support that was promised, she was allegedly threatened by YSRCP leaders. Frustrated and unable to get any assistance, Nagamani decided to approach the court for justice.
