Former mayor of Karimnagar, Sardar Ravinder Singh, met with the Municipal Commissioner and District Collector on Thursday. He alleged that officials of the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation are involved in irregularities in recent tender works worth Rs 1.33 crore. He also mentioned that the authorities are planning to prepare bills for Rs 60 crore worth of works in just 60 days, which he believes is impossible on such a large scale in such a short period of time.

Singh called for an investigation into these bills and the quality of the works through vigilance and record-keeping. He suggested that the officers who worked on these projects should be supervised by officers from outside their division to ensure the quality is up to standard. Until this is done, he emphasized that the bills should not be recorded.

One specific issue raised by Singh was regarding drainage construction on R & B roads as part of the smart city works in the corporation. He called for appropriate action to be taken against the authorities responsible for constructing these drainages and for the money spent on them to be recovered.

During the meeting, Singh was accompanied by BRS party state leaders Gunjapadugu Hariprasad and Kemasaram Tirupathi. They expressed their gratitude to the district Collector for issuing orders to record the works offline instead of online, after officials failed to thoroughly examine the works at the field level following a complaint about corruption irregularities.

In response, the district Collector assured them that action would be taken against the corrupt officials. They were urged to take action against those who acted negligently on smart city works and committed corruption in collaboration with contractors, disregarding regulations.
