Mahabubnagar: The District Educational Officer, Praveen Kumar, has directed private schools to grant fee discounts for the children of accredited journalists. These schools must waive 100% of the fees for one child and offer a 50% discount for a second child from such families.

This decision followed a meeting on May 26 between the MBNR Press Club Executive Committee and the DEO. After their request, the DEO issued the orders on Telangana Formation Day. A meeting with private school managements will be organized soon to ensure these orders are followed. The DEO stressed the importance of compliance from all schools. Press Club members, including President Narendra Chari, thanked the DEO, calling it a supportive measure for journalists’ families. He urged schools to quickly implement these discounts. Journalist parents should get an official letter from the DEO’s office, which lists their accreditation number and their children’s school names, and give it to the respective schools to receive the fee concessions.
