Gadwal: On October 2, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Aija Town General Secretary, Kompati Bhagat Reddy, led a celebration to honor the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. These leaders are remembered for their great contributions to India’s history, particularly Mahatma Gandhi’s role in the Indian freedom struggle. Gandhi is well-known for using non-violence and peace as tools to fight against British rule, inspiring people across the country to support the movement.
Mahatma Gandhi, born in Gujarat, started as an ordinary man but became the leader of several peaceful protests. His determined efforts, combined with the support of millions of Indians, helped to end British rule in India. Gandhi’s approach to peaceful resistance became a model for other movements around the world.
As part of the celebrations, a cleanliness drive was conducted under the Swachh Bharat initiative. Participants cleaned the surrounding areas and paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. They honored the two leaders by garlanding their statues and reflecting on their teachings of peace, justice, and equality.
In addition to the celebrations, the event also included a briefing on the party’s membership registration drive for all attendees.
Several notable figures attended the event. These included former Alampur constituency convener Medical Thirumala Reddy, district OBC Morcha executive member Lakshmanachari, Kisan Morcha President Viresh Goud, town vice-presidents Lakshman Goud, booth presidents Edavalli Krishna, T. Narasimhulu, Ashok, Raju, M. Shekhar, Raghu, and many active party workers.
