The Vinayaka immersion festival is currently taking place in Hyderabad. Authorities have reported that the immersion process is going smoothly and peacefully. This year, the immersion of idols in the South East and South West regions of the city is happening faster than in previous years.
Police Commissioner CV Anand mentioned that they have taken timely steps to ensure a smooth immersion. He said, “We are working closely with the mandapa (pandal) management to make sure the idols are immersed on time. The immersion of the famous Balapur Ganesha is expected to happen soon.”
To handle the large crowds and prevent traffic jams, a detailed traffic management plan has been put in place. Around 25,000 police officers are working in shifts to maintain order and safety during the event.
Officials estimate that about one lakh (100,000) idols will be immersed in the city, with 20,000 to 30,000 idols still waiting for immersion. Commissioner Anand assured that efforts are being made to finish the immersion process by tomorrow morning.
This year, the police have taken extra steps to make sure the immersions happen faster compared to last year. People are being encouraged to use public transport to reach the immersion sites easily.
