The city police in Hyderabad recently arrested two gangs that were involved in stealing mobile phones and chain snatchings. A total of seven members were arrested, and a significant amount of stolen property was seized from them.
In the first case, the Osmania University police apprehended a couple, Arun Kumar (23) and his wife Anuradha (20), along with Rambabu (20) and a minor boy. This four-member gang targeted people sleeping on pavements or walking on the roads, forcibly taking their mobile phones and cash. According to R Giridhar, DCP East Zone, the gang was active in this type of criminal activity.
In the second case, the police arrested a gang from Malkajgiri comprising of B Samson (19), Madhu (19), and K Prashanth (21). This trio was involved in stealing mobile phones and chains from pedestrians in and around Secunderabad. After snatching the property, the gang sold the mobile phones to individuals named Mohammed Arif, Ilyas Afroz, Shaik Ali, and Raju for Rs 3,000. These individuals then resold the phones to others for a profit. All the arrested persons have been remanded by the police.
