During the COVID pandemic, the people of Secunderabad constituency faced financial struggles. T Padma Rao Goud, the former minister and sitting MLA, helped by mortgaging his family’s jewelry and providing ration to 15,000 families.

Known as ‘Pajjanna’ among his constituents, Padma Rao explained that he wanted to help his people during the crisis. His family willingly gave their gold ornaments, which were mortgaged for Rs 1.6 crore to buy food items for those in need. Padma Rao emphasized that he understands the struggles of the middle class as he was born into a similar background.

Padma Rao began his political career with the Congress party in 1977 and later joined the TRS party in 2001. He has been actively involved in politics and played a key role in the Telangana agitation. Over the years, he has held various positions within the party and government.

In the 2004 Assembly elections, Padma Rao emerged victorious from Secunderabad constituency. He later became the first excise minister of Telangana and served as the Deputy Speaker of the Telangana Assembly. Despite facing some defeats in elections, Padma Rao has remained loyal to his party and constituents.

Padma Rao’s five sons are expected to continue his political legacy in the future, ensuring that his contributions to the community will endure.
