Nizamabad: The 75-year-old Congress leader, Podduturi Sudarshan Reddy, has won the Bodhan Assembly constituency in the 2023 elections. He has reclaimed the seat he once represented. Sudarshan Reddy is from Siranpally village in Navipet. He had to discontinue his studies when he was in the second year of his BA degree.
Sudarshan Reddy began his political career in 1999 when he became an MLA on a Congress ticket, defeating the TDP candidate. This was when Andhra Pradesh was still a united state.
He continued to win from the same constituency in the 2004 and 2009 elections, serving as an MLA in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly. During this time, he also served as an irrigation minister in Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy’s cabinet.
However, Sudarshan Reddy lost the elections in 2014 and 2018 after Telangana became a separate state. The BRS party was strong in the Bodhan Assembly segment during these elections. Despite these setbacks, Sudarshan Reddy fought hard and won back his seat in the 2023 Assembly elections.
