The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is making it easier to get building approvals. GHMC Commissioner K Ilambarithi announced that a new Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered system called ‘Build Now’ will be launched on March 10. This system will speed up the building permit process within GHMC limits.

The AI-powered system, developed by the state government, aims to make the approval process faster and more transparent. It will provide a single platform for all building permit-related tasks in Greater Hyderabad. To prepare for this change, GHMC conducted a training session on Thursday for zonal and deputy commissioners. More training sessions will continue until March 9 to ensure a smooth implementation.

Commissioner Ilambarithi explained that ‘Build Now’ will automatically check construction plans for errors as soon as they are uploaded. This will reduce the need for a full manual review. The system will also check if a proposed building is too close to water bodies or if there are any legal disputes related to the land, making the approval process easier for applicants.

To get approval, applicants must submit a certificate confirming that there are no legal issues with their project. If any discrepancies are found later, the applicant will be held responsible. Officials also mentioned that training will help professionals design buildings that follow all regulations.

Several senior officials, including CCP Srinivas and zonal commissioners Anurag Jayant, Hemant Keshav Patil, Apurva Chauhan, Ravi Kiran, and Venkanna, attended the training. Additional CCPs Gangadhar and Pradeep Veeranna, along with town planning officers, were also present.
