Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is actively working to resolve citizen complaints swiftly. Commissioner RV Karnan urged officials to act quickly on issues raised during the recent Prajavani programme. Residents from various neighborhoods attended this public meeting at the GHMC headquarters on Monday to voice their concerns.
Commissioner Karnan personally reviewed complaints and instructed officials to address them promptly. He stressed the importance of taking public grievances seriously, asking department heads to handle each issue carefully to prevent recurrence.
At the GHMC headquarters, 204 complaints were lodged, focusing on town planning, streetlights, and other matters. Of these, 74 complaints were registered at the headquarters itself. The Town Planning Department received 37 issues, while the Tax and Housing Departments each got 7. The Vigilance Department had 5, the Engineering Department 4, and the Health and Sanitation Department 3. The Finance Department received 2 complaints, and the Legal, LWS, Admin, UBD, and UCD Departments each received one.
During the Prajavani phone-in session, 4 requests were made and forwarded to the appropriate departments.
In GHMC’s six zones, 126 complaints were submitted. The Kukatpally Zone had 55, Serilingampally 28, Secunderabad 27, LB Nagar 9, Charminar 6, and Khairtabad Zone had one complaint.
Additional Commissioners Raghu Prasad, Venugopal, Satyanarayana, Venugopal Reddy, Geetha Radhika, Mangatayar, CCP Srinivas, CE Sahadev Ratnakar, Additional CCP Gangadhar, B Venkanna, Pradeep, Ranjith, and other officers participated in the session.
