The Commissioner of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and District Election Officer (DEO) conducted a comprehensive review meeting on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls at the GHMC Head Office. The meeting, attended by the District Collector, Hyderabad and Additional Commissioner (Election), brought together representatives from all recognised political parties to discuss the electoral revision process.
During the meeting, the GHMC Commissioner provided detailed information about the SIR process and stressed the critical importance of maintaining a transparent, inclusive, and error-free electoral roll. A key decision was made regarding the language of enumeration forms, with all political parties unanimously agreeing to distribute English enumeration forms to eligible voters across the city. This decision was taken to facilitate easy understanding and ensure accurate submission of voter details.
The Commissioner made a strong appeal to political party representatives to extend full cooperation to Booth Level Officers (BLOs) during the revision process. The officials emphasized that the duties of BLOs should not be obstructed in any manner, and all political parties were requested to furnish duly filled forms within the stipulated timeframe to ensure smooth completion of the electoral roll revision.
In a significant announcement, the Commissioner clarified that voters who fail to submit the enumeration forms may not have their names included in the draft electoral roll. This warning underscores the importance of active participation from all eligible voters in the revision process to ensure their voting rights are protected and their names appear in the updated electoral rolls.
Representatives from all recognised political parties actively participated in the meeting and raised several queries regarding various aspects of the SIR process. The GHMC officials and election authorities present at the meeting provided detailed clarifications on all the questions raised, ensuring that all political parties have a clear understanding of the revision process and their roles in facilitating it.
The meeting concluded with officials reiterating the importance of collaborative efforts between election authorities and political parties to ensure a comprehensive and accurate electoral roll for Hyderabad. The Special Intensive Revision exercise aims to update voter lists by adding new eligible voters, removing deceased or shifted voters, and correcting errors in existing entries to maintain the integrity of the democratic process.
